Description
Acer griseum –
Paperbark Maple – Chinese Paperbark Maple – From central and western China this
specimen tree with its outstanding feature being its bark. The bark peels but
also holds on to reveal smooth cinnamon red limbs and trunk beneath. The leaves
consist of 3 elliptical leaflets turn orange, scarlet and crimson in autumn and
grows to 20-30’ feet tall. Prefers full sun to part shade
Grows well in cooler temperature areas with adequate rainfall in fertile soil but well drained in sun or partial shade. For better fall color plant in acidic or neutral soil.
