T. vulgaris – Common Thyme – Garden Thyme – This is the most popular culinary thymes, it forms a bushy, cushion of about 6-12″ tall and 16″ wide, and it comes from Western Mediterranean to the South Italy. It produces tiny linear to elliptic, finely hairy , strong aromatic, mid green leaves, up to ½” long. In late spring and early summer, it bears pale purple to white flowers in whorled racemes.
‘Silver Posie’ – has white edged leaves.
Grow in well drained neutral to alkaline soil in full sun. For thick, dense plants, the flowers should be removed after flowering. Divide in spring.
