Description
Acer velutinum var. venvolxemii – Persian Maple – This is a vigorous, deciduous tree, from the mountains of Iran and the Caucasus, and is one of the largest of the maples, in the wild, it can reach 120’ feet tall although half that is more likely in cultivation. With a broadly domed crown it produces 5 lobed coarsely serrated 12” inch wide and long leaves with hairless undersides with bluish undersides. Bears upright corymbs of yellow flowers followed by large wide spreading pairs of winged fruit.
