Description

Leucanthemopsis –

There are about 6 species of dwarf, tufted, clump or mat forming perennials in this genus. They occur in mountain habitats in Europe and Northern Africa. They are grown for their solitary, daisy like, white or yellow flowers, borne in summer. The leaves are pinnatisect, pinnatifid, or palmately lobed. Frequently short lived, they are suitable for a rock garden, scree bed.

Grow in any sharply drained soil in full sun.

L. pectinata – Chrysanthemum pectinata – L. radicans – Pyrethrum radicans – This densely tufted, perennial from Southern Spain grows 6″ tall and 12″ wide. It spreads by runners which sprout pinnatifid, gray-green to silvery green leaves, 3-6″ long, with 5-9 lobes. In summer it bears flowers to 3/4″ across, with yellow-orange centers and golden yellow petals that age to orange-red.
