Description
Acer japonicum – Full-Moon Maple – Native to the forest of Japan this slow growing deciduous tree grows 30’ feet tall and wide. The leaves are very pale green when unfolding to a 7-11 lobe sharply toothed turning mid-green in summer and are 6-8” inches long. In autumn the breath taking shades are orange and red while others hold their mid-green color. Intolerant to drying winds, like moist sheltered position.
‘Vitifolium’ – has larger 2-10” inch long leaves and slightly deeper lobed with coarsely toothed edges turning brilliant scarlet, orange or yellow.
