x Cupressocyparis –

This group of hybrids is a result of a cross between Chamaeyparis and Cupressus. They are fast growing, with the ability to reach 70′ feet tall in 25 years, and are columnar, evergreen, coniferous trees. They produce flattened sprays of scale like, dark green leaves, to 1/8″ long. It produces cones which are initially green ripening to brown as they mature, female cones are spherical, male cone are egg shaped, yellow, and up to 1/8″ long. Grow as a specimen trees or use for hedging. Contact with foliage may aggravate skin allergies.

Grow in any deep, well drained soil in full sun or partial shade.

Prone to coryneum canker, tip dieback, branch dieback, root rot, needles blights, bark beetles, scale insects, caterpillars, and sawfly.

x C. ovensii – This cross between Chamaecyparis nootkatensis and Cupressus lusitanica grows 30′ feet tall and has dark bluish green foliage is flattened into drooping sprays.
