They occur in humid forest at altitudes of 4,300-10,000′ feet in Mexico,, and Central and South America. They have broadly ovoid to oblong-ovoid, cluster pseudobulbs, each producing up to 3 linear, lance shaped, ovate or elliptic leaves. Flowers are produced in racemes from the base of the pseudobulbs.
Cool to intermediate growing orchids (see chart below). Grow in fine grade epiphytic orchid potting mix in a container that constricts the roots, or mount on slabs. In summer, provide high humidity and bright filtered light, water freely, apply fertilizer ate every 3rd watering, and mist 1 or 2 times daily. In winter provide full light and water sparingly.
Prone to spider mites, aphids, and mealybugs.
