Grow in well drained, preferably sandy soil in full sun, although most will tolerate any soil that is not wet and heavy. Grow mound forming, dwarf, white, or silver leaved species in sharply drained, poor to moderately fertile soil. Cut back T. coccineum and its cultivars as the flowers fade, in order to encourage a second flowering. Divide perennials in spring.
