Orange matures in 75-83 days – space 18-24″ apart

Red matures in 75 days – space 18-24″ inches apart

Harvest – some peppers turn red, yellow, or other colors at maturity others are ready in green stage, but will turn red if left on plants. Suggested you hold on to plant labels to ensure proper harvesting time and methods.

P. nigrum – Black pepper – White pepper –

this evergreen, woody stemmed, perennial climber from India and Sri Lanka can grow 12′ feet tall and wide or more. It produces ovate, heart shaped, leathery, deeply veined, dark green leaves, to 5″ inches long. In summer, bears small white flowers in spike to 4 1/2″ inches long, on the swollen stem joint opposite of the leaf, followed by spherical fruit that are red when ripe.

Grow in fertile, well drained soil in dappled shade. Support climbing stems.

Prone to fungal root rot, Pepper weevil and pepper flea beetles.
