Quercus bicolor – Swamp White Oak

Q. bicolor – Swamp White Oak – This spreading, deciduous tree from Southeastern USA grows 80′ feet tall and 50′ feet wide.It has flaking, curling, fissured gray-brown bark.It produces shallowly lobed, egg shaped, glossy, dark green leaves to 8″ long, that are white hairy beneath when young and turn orange to bright red in autumn.It bears long stalked, oblong-ovoid acorns in pairs or 3’s.

Grow in deep, fertile, well drained soil in sun or partial shade, evergreen species prefer full sun.They tolerate alkaline soils unless stated otherwise.
