indoors – grow in soil based potting mix in full bright indirect light. In spring and summer water moderately and apply a balanced liquid fertilizer monthly. Water sparingly in winter.

outdoors – grow in deep, fertile, moist but well drained soil in full sun or partial shade.

S. aromaticum – Eugenia aromatic – Clove – this small, bushy, roughly conical to columnar tree from Indonesia grows to 50′ feet tall and 10-15′ feet in the wild, not in cultivation. Clove scented, oval-lance shaped leaves can be 5″ inches long, emerging pink flushed then lustrous green above. In late summer it bears terminal panicles of 3-20 flowers, to 3/4″ inches long, with tiny, pink tinged petals, which fall away upon opening and a small brush of slender yellow stamens, flowers are then followed by ellipsoid purple fruit 3/8″ inches long
