Description
Acer sterculiaceum Subsp. thomsonii – Acer thomsonii – From the Himalayas and China, it grows 40’ feet tall with a spreading habit with thick branches. The leaves are 12” inches or more across with 3-5 short forward pointing lobes. Bears green 2” wide fruit.
Subsp. franchetti – This subspecies from central Western China has hairier leaves and always have 5 lobes.
