Abelia x grandiflora – Glossy Abelia –

This is a cross between A. grandiflora and A. Schumannii first raised in the USA in 1911. It’s a small semi evergreen shrub with bright glossy oval leaves that are long tinged with bronze when young. Grows to 5 feet tall and 6 feet wide. Trumpet shape flowers of lilac-pink appear from summer to autumn

Abelia’s thrive in any well-drained and moderately fertile soil, either sun or slight shade. Abelia’s are moderately frost hardy, so sheltered away from cold/drying winds. Best pruned in late fall, cut flowering branches and some older growth to ground, keep arching habit.
