Description

For horticultural purposes, daffodils are split into 13 divisions. All are of garden origin, except for Division 13 species.

Division 8 – Tazetta cultivars – Small flowered cultivars produces up to 20 flowers per stem, large flowered cultivars bear 3 or 4 flowers per stem. They have thick stems, wide leaves, broad frilly perianth segments, and small cups (coronas). They are usually sweetly scented, and are good as cut flowers. Some cultivars are less hardy and should be grown in a cool greenhouse, Flowering from late autumn to spring growing to 15″ tall.

Hardy to Zones 3-9. Plant in fall, 4-6″ deep in rich, well drained soil. They enjoy full sun in cool areas, and some shade in warmer areas. Water well during growth and allow to dry out once the leaves die down. Remove spent flowers. Apply a low nitrogen, high potash fertilizer after flowering if bulbs are not performing well.

Prone to narcissus bulb fly, bulb scale mite, narcissus nematode, slugs, narcissus basal rot, narcissus yellow stripe and other viruses and fungal infections.
