Description
Rosa ‘Empress Josephine’ – R. x francofurana – R. ‘L’ Imperatrice’ – This bushy, wide spreading hybrid gallica rose grows 4-5′ feet tall and 4′ feet wide. It produces smooth or practically thornless canes that carry grayish green leaves composed of 5-7 broadly ovate leaflets, up to 2″ long. In spring or early summer it bears loosely formed, rounded, semi double, faintly scented flowers, that are 3 ½” across, with wavy edged, bright pink papery petals and mauve and violet veining. Flowers are followed by inversely cone shaped red hips in fall.
