Description

Scopolia –
There are 5 rhizomatous, creeping perennials, in the Solanales family, in this genus. They naturally occur from woodlands in Central and Southern Europe and Asia. Scopolias have alternate, simple, smooth edged, boldly veined leaves. The leaves die back after producing solitary, nodding, bell shaped flowers in spring. Grow in woodland garden. All parts are highly toxic if ingested.
Grow in humus rich, leafy, moist but well drained, neutral to slightly alkaline soil in partial shade. Divide in spring.

S. carniolica – This creeping, rhizomatous perennial from Central and Southeastern Europe and the Caucasus, grows 24″ tall and wide. It produces light green, ovate or ovate-oblong, pointed, veined, wrinkled leaves, to 8″ long. Solitary, 5 pointed, bell shaped,  bright, buff yellow flowers, greenish yellow inside flowers, 1″ long, yellow-green inside, are borne from the leaf axils in mid and late spring.
